Michael Brown Reflects on Darkness at the Vatican

Spirit Daily is one of my favorite daily stops.

From Spirit Daily - Daily spiritual news from around the world:

"To make matters more poignant -- and mysterious -- the blackout occurred as the Pope was naming 31 new cardinals -- cardinals who will be instrumental in choosing his successor. What meaning this? 'Inside the Vatican press room, journalists huddled with candles and flashlights to read the list,' said one report. 'Only a few copies of the list had been made before the power went out early Sunday, shutting down the Vatican's copy machines.'

Indeed: mysterious. Was something to be read into that, or was it simply happenstance? Why darkness? Why was there such a punctuation when it came to the new cardinals? Or was it simply related to the Pope's health? Was God saying something about what will happen when John Paul II goes -- or was it the devil lashing against a list of new and largely conservative who will help pick John Paul II's successor?"
