Always interesting to hear numbers of copies sold...interestingly the Ratzinger Report only sold around 50,000 copies...it seemed to be everywhere when it came out back in the 80's.

Parishes are Separate Financial Entities, Say Nashville Diocese Officials
This hardly works on a number of levels...one has only to think of how a bishop is able to close a parish to begin to see how this isn't true.

Official Prayer for Intercession of John Paul
From Zenit News Agency - The World Seen From Rome
O Blessed Trinity,
We thank you for having graced the Church with Pope John Paul II
and for allowing the tenderness of your Fatherly care,
the glory of the cross of Christ,
and the splendor of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him.
Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy
and in the maternal intercession of Mary,
he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd,
and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is
the way of achieving eternal communion with you.
Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your will,
the graces we implore,
hoping that he will soon be numbered among your saints. Amen.

Fire Danger Coses Wilderness in AZ
Quote from the place where Amy and our gang spent some vacation time in April..Fire danger closes wilderness:
"Steve Durand, owner of Saguaro Lake Ranch Resort, said the closure is huge but understandable because of extremely dry conditions.
The 'Lone' fire charred 60,000 acres of high desert wilderness, including Four Peaks, in April 1996. It was considered among the worst desert wildfires in recent history.
'We put fire breaks around all of our buildings. The desert is ripe. It's just explosive,' said Durand, whose kayaking and tubing business along the Lower Salt River is not affected by the closure.
Fast-moving fires last week in the Bartlett Lake area near Cave Creek convinced Acting Forest Supervisor Tom Klabunde to order the closure. "

Two brothers, two priests, two worlds, one mission
Rather strange story about the one who married and continues to serve as a pastor doing weddings, baptisms, not mass though...

Closing Churches in Steubenville--Including the Cathedral!!!
I've actually been to mass there, not sure why they are closing it. Even if they want to build a new one it seems that the present one could continue to function.

Benedict XVI: From the Eucharist comes love for refugees and the poor
Pope's Angelus message today...
From >>> AsiaNews.it <<< Benedict XVI: From the Eucharist comes love for refugees and the poor:
"Whoever nourishes himself of Christ with faith at the Eucharistic celebration absorbs his lifestyle, that is a style of service geared especially towards the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people. In fact, works of charity are a criterion of the authencity of our liturgical celebration (cfr ap. letter Mane nobiscum Domine, 28). The current Year of the Eucharist helps diocesan and parish communities to boost this capacity to go against widespread poverties in our world."

Joseph at the Michigan International Speedway. Note to most of you out there, he has a jacket on, as the other people in the stands do.
