Feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus

Although not formally celebrated today, because it is a Sunday.
Therese imagined that in the spiritual life we are all like infants at the foot of the stairs being summoned by our Heavenly Father to climb the heights--which try as we might we cannot do. Finally the Heavenly Father will come down the stairs and pick us up and carry us up the stairs. Which of course is a beautiful child like summary of what the Trinity has done in the incarnation of Jesus.
Are you and I trying to climb the stairs? Is our Faith in Him? Abandon yourself to the God as a child abandons oneself to their parents.
St. Therese, pray for us!

  1. Thanks for the post, Michael. In all the hustle of Sunday, I'd forgotten the Little Flower's feast, even though I ask for her intercession at every Mass.

My favorite image that she used was of the rabbit pursued by the prince out hunting, the rabbit turning and leaping into the prince's arms. What a wonderful image of God's boundless mercy in the face of our inadequacy.

  2. Thanks Michael. I had not even noticed that it was her feast day as well. And the fact that we have access to her photo's seem to bring to us more directly. Thank you.
