Note: Cardinal Law, I believe is the titular bishop of Saint Sussanna (the American Church) and now Cardinal O'Malley's church is very close to it--although it would have been nice to give him the Capuchin church but I'm guessing someone already has it.

  2. For mostly historical reasons, cardinals are assigned to a parish in the diocese of Rome. That parish becomes their titular church. They often visit that parish anytime they are in Rome. They frequently assist however they are able to that parish.

    The parishes also have regular pastors and perhaps associates that take care of the normal responsibilities of a parish.
