As a former member of St. James parish (actually around the time of Hopper's final conversion), I can totally understand how welcome and supported he must have felt there while he discerned his vocation. The parish may not always pass the liturgical correctness tests from the orthodoxy police, but you have a parish there where they love their Church, they love the Lord, and they really want to go out there and live their faith proudly.
