"There is now a Missouri connection to the story of Terri Schiavo - the brain-damaged Florida woman who has had her feeding tube removed. Lana Jacobs, who works with St. Francis House - a Catholic organization in Columbia - has been arrested in Pinellas Park, Florida, for trespassing. Police say Jacobs was trying to take a bottle of water to Schiavo at the Woodside Hospice, where Schiavo resides."

This morning, the Holy Father appeared at the window of his study in the Vatican's Apostolic Palace and blessed the faithful gathered in St Peter's Square below.
Despite the fact that the Pope's general audience, traditionally held on Wednesdays, was not scheduled to take place, hundreds of people, including a large group from Poland, had gathered in the St Peter's Square prior to the Pope's 11 a.m. appearance so as to receive his blessing.

"A federal appeals court refused early Wednesday to order the reinsertion of Terri Schiavo's feeding tube, denying the latest emergency request by the severely brain-damaged woman's parents to keep her alive.
A panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals said in a 2-1 ruling that the parents 'failed to demonstrate a substantial case on the merits of any of their claims.'
'There is no denying the absolute tragedy that has befallen Mrs. Schiavo,' the ruling said. 'We all have our own family, our own loved ones, and our own children. However, we are called upon to make a collective, objective decision concerning a question of law.'"

IRS Probes Politics at Church
I've wondered how it is that some churches can blatantly support candidates and why the Catholic church is threatened whenever it takes a public position. Finally it seems the IRS is looking into this...

The probe is related to an appearance last October by Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry and several black leaders, including U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Miami, the Rev. Al Sharpton and the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
The reason for the investigation, an IRS official wrote in a 10-page letter obtained by The Herald, is that ``a reasonable belief exists that Friendship Missionary Baptist Church has engaged in political activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status as a church.''"
