I'm not up on the judicial system, but why does the same judge hear this case every time even when new motions come up?

"Schiavo is scheduled to have her feeding tube removed at 1 p.m. today, under court order.
'Later this morning, we will issue a subpoena, which will require hospice administrators and attending physicians to preserve nutrition and hydration for Terri Schiavo to allow Congress to fully understand the procedures and practices that are currently keeping her alive,' a statement from the House Republican leadership said.
That statement was released by House Speaker Dennis Hastert, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and Government Reform Committee Chairman Tom Davis. Details of the subpoena were not immediately clear and it was not revealed whom it actually targeted."

"A senior Catholic leader has made a rare intervention into the pre-election political fray by backing Conservative leader Michael Howard on the emotive issue of abortion.
Howard told women's magazine Cosmopolitan this week that he supported a reduction in the legal limit for abortion from 24 weeks of pregnancy to 20.
Blair was more circumspect, telling the magazine it was a 'difficult issue,' that he had no plans to change the time limit but that debate would continue.
'The policy supported by Mr Howard is one that we would also commend, on the way to a full abandonment of abortion,' the head of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, said in a statement on Tuesday."

'We're certainly feeling the judge's decision is right,' said San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, whose city's lawsuit prompted Kramer's ruling Monday that gays and lesbians have the right to marry in California, despite a law and a voter-approved measure declaring marriage to be the exclusive realm of heterosexuals.
Opponents of gay marriage immediately declared that 57-year-old Kramer is a judicial activist whose decision was 'ludicrous' and 'nonsense.'"
